Why each one should share their stories

It’s very tempting for us to think that everything out there is already said, so why repeat it, why say something that someone else, has or can say it better than we can?

This is usually a reason that most of us, give ourselves for not sharing, whether it be writing (which i wish most of us would be doing more), speaking, arts, crafts or in whatever form it may be. Most of us think that there is nothing, or there is very little that we can add to the world, so why even try?

This statement, can’t be more wrong ..., most of us have so much to share, and we deprive the world of so much body of knowledge when we merely become consumers, and not creators..

  • How many of us spend countless hours, scrolling through a social network feeds without saying anything?
  • How many of us would love to say something, but are afraid of what others will say? what others will take of our opinions?
  • How many of us would love to post, but are afraid of how many likes we will get?

These are just some of the barriers that come by when we throw ourselves out there, and we become vulnerable.., but I believe there is more to loose by not doing it, and there is a lot to gain, by overcoming our fears..,

Let us remember that

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

or the wise words from Nelson Mandela

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. ” — Nelson Mandela

Let me give you my four reasons why each one of us should share their stories.

1. We are all created different

Noble we were created, and we are each different, there is no one who is exactly like you. Our experiences, perception, fears, relationships, responses, are very unique to us. We each day, subconsciously or consciously, create a body of knowledge through the information we consume, combining it with the experiences we go through.

This knowledge is kept with us, and by sharing it with the world, we contribute towards a better and a more complete world.

By not sharing we deprive that body of knowledge that only we do have, that only we can bring to the world.

Think about this..

2. We are social beings and we learn through other people

Most of our information we consume (that builds our knowledge) , is acquired from our environment, from our parents, family members, friends, neighbors, random people on the internet etc. We respond to things differently depends on who says it

Haven’t you ever heard exactly the same thing, said by two different people, and your understanding was different?

Most of time, its because of the nature of the relationship you have with the person. Thus its important that more people share more stories, because different people grab information differently depending on who is sharing it.

Would you grab the opportunity to share your story, if you knew that your story will have an impact to someone else?

So please do.

3. We learn more by teaching

“if you want to learn something, then offer to teach someone else?

I believe in this saying, and most of you will agree with me. We usually offer refined polished products to other people, not the messy stuff that we keep to ourselves. We usually plan, research, on, not only the content, but also the way we present the content.

Thus it’s of a huge benefit to oneself, when we become more creators than consumers.

Last but not least.

4. You will never reach absolute perfection

Its true that most of us are living with handbrakes on, afraid to offer our opinions, and share what we have, before we are perfect at it.

We are waiting for that moment when we will be ready, when we will have all the tools we need, so that we can share with the world without fear.

Let you remember that,

You do not have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great

The moment of absolute perfection will never come, so embrace the failures that come on the way, and treat them as stepping stones.

Know that..

One of the best gifts that you will ever give to yourself, is the gift of allowing yourself to fail..
